Ariana Grande just pulled the most boss move ever and released a new single shortly before her ex Pete Davidson"s show Saturday Night Live went on air. Pete"s been talking about Ari on the show a lot (remember that cringe-worthy birth control joke?), and it seems like this week Ariana wanted to get a word in.
The song is called "thank u, next," which is also a phrase that Ariana used to address Pete"s recent (and some might say too soon) joke about their engagement. She also sneakily tweeted some of the lyrics on Friday, which many fans thought were addressing Pete.
But now that we have the full song (and it"s a BOP, y"all), Ariana is making it clear that she is taking the high road, but also that she is fully over Pete and focusing on herself for now. She addresses each of her ex"s by name, and for Pete says "Even almost got married, and for Pete I’m so thankful." She also has the very empowering and lovely message that her most important relationship is with herself. She says:
Plus I met someone else We having better discussions I know they say I move on too fast But this one gon’ last Cause her name is Ari And I’m so good with that
Overall, the song is very positive about each of her relationships (the hook is even "I"m so fucking grateful for my ex") and so very good. Do yourself a favor and listen if you haven"t already:
