Netflix Stops Calling Thanos a Sociopath Due to Escalating Fan Backlash

Netflix has erased the "intergalactic sociopath" line from their [v]Avengers: Infinity War[/v] description. The movie landed on the streaming platform Christmas day and some users found difficulty accessing it at first, which led to an uproar on social media. When the dust from that incident settled, some Marvel Cinematic Universe fans didn’t like the fact that the description called Thanos a sociopath. It started a mini debate on social media with fans arguing about the definition of sociopath vs. psychopath and arguing whether the Mad Titan was right or wrong.

Netflix Stops Calling Thanos a Sociopath Due to Escalating Fan Backlash

After a few days of the arguments taking place, #Netflix quietly changed the description of Infinity War on their site. The new description reads: "Invader. Annihilator. So-called savior. As Thanos moves ever closer to omnipotence, the fate of the universe rests with the Avengers." This is actually a much better fit for the movie than the previous description, which seemed to be having a bit too much fun. Netflix has not made a statement about their decision to change the description at this time.

The arrival of Infinity War on Netflix was a pretty big deal for some people who have not seen the movie. It was pretty interesting to hear people’s reactions to the end of the movie after fans had been talking about it since April. Additionally, the rollout for the movie was a bit rocky, which led to some pretty funny social media interactions between Netflix and subscribers. When some subscribers weren’t able to stream the movie, the company suggested that they logout of their accounts and then log back in. If that didn’t work, they said that praying to Thanos for forgiveness might be a good alternative.

Now that Infinity War is out everywhere, it’s time for the world to shift priorities to Avengers: Endgame, which hits theaters in April of next year. This gives Netflix a lot of time to figure out their description for the movie. One can bet that they won’t be calling Thanos a sociopath this time around. But we don’t even have a synopsis for the movie at this time. Marvel Studios is keeping everything under wraps and the latest trailer only adds fuel to the speculation that has been going on for months.

For now, you can go stream Infinity War on Netflix and enjoy the movie with some people who have never seen it. Even people who are not fans of the comic book movie genre can appreciate the intense action that does not give up during the massive team-up movie. Elsewhere, some viewers may love watching some of the most beloved superheroes in history get turned to dust. There’s really something for everybody in the movie that the Russo Brothers crafted, which is a pretty impressive feat. You can head over to Netflix to read the new and improved Infinity War description that doesn’t take a shot at the Mad Titan.
